Magnificent Women and their flying machines
The Magnificent Women and Their Flying Machines outreach project was first launched in April 2014, funded jointly by the Women's Engineering Society and an Ingenious Grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering, and received an overwhelming response from schools and students alike. Since 2014, the project has been delivered to numerous school-based events, including schools in England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales and a number of STEM fairs including the Big Bang, Royal International Air Tattoo, the Association of Science Education Conference and Exhibition, RAF Cosford, Big Bang Near Me exhibitions, and the STEMtech conference in London. Altogether, approximately 20,000 students, teachers and members of the public have had access to this activity. In 2015 and 2016 the activity has been supported by Northrop Grumman, to whom we are extremely grateful. For 2016 we have received additional funding from the Royal Aeronautical Society Centennial Grant.
